By Liam Isola Happy New Year, and may your 2026 be full of travel! Ring in the new year with some absurdly good flight deals and keep your resolution to travel more. Today, I’ll share 15 of the best winter international flight deals from the US starting as low as $16!
These one-way flight deals span four continents and 14 different countries, so you’ll have plenty of options for a winter getaway. If you’re in the Fort Lauderdale area, you’re in luck, as many of the best deals leave from FLL.
To take full advantage of these deals, you’ll need to be flexible and be okay with baggage/seat restrictions. Also, 12 of the 15 deals involve flights under $100! Without further ado, here they are:
Best Winter International Flight Deals: 1. San Francisco/Las Vegas to Vancouver – $16
Our deals will be from lowest to highest price, and this one is simply astounding. You can fly from San Francisco or Las Vegas to Vancouver for just $16 on various dates from January to March on Flair Airlines.
Vancouver is a haven for Winter activities. The Robson Square Ice Rink in downtown is an essential winter stop in the city. So too is the Capilano Suspension Bridge, from which you can see wintry scenery if you’re lucky.
There are plenty of options for skiing in Vancouver and the surrounding area. Whistler, a couple of hours north, is one of the most famous resorts in the world.
Grouse and Cypress Mountains are closer to the city, though.
Best Winter International Flight Deals: 2. Orlando to Toronto – $21
Sticking with Canada, fly from Orlando to Toronto for just $21 for on February 12 or March 31. This deal may not last long, so pounce on it while you still can!
There’s also outdoor ice skating in Toronto at Nathan Phillips Square. Check out the iconic CN Tower, head to the impressive Art Gallery of Ontario, or go snowshoeing at Rouge National Urban Park just outside of city limits.
3. Miami to Guatemala City – $38
Act fast to grab one of the best winter international flight deals. You can head from Miami to Guatemala City for just $38 on Frontier Airlines on January 10. Guatemala is a great place to spend a week.
Head to the beautiful colonial city of Antigua and hike up the Acatenango Volcano to see frequent eruptions. Then, travel by boat around Lake Atitlan.
4. Houston to San Salvador, El Salvador – $39
For just $39, you can head from Houston to San Salvador on various dates in January. El Salvador has become controversial for its tough on crime policies, but it has led to greater safety for tourists.
In fact, it has been named one of the safest countries in Latin America. It is known for beaches like El Tunco and Costa del Sol. There’s also good hiking, and nice colonial cities like Suchitoto and Santa Ana.
5. Fort Lauderdale to Grand Cayman – $47
Plan a beach holiday to Grand Cayman for just $47 from Fort Lauderdale. This deal, on Spirit Airlines, is available on multiple dates in January and February. Swim with sting rays and turtles and explore the Cayman Crystal Caves.
6. Fort Lauderdale to Managua, Nicaragua – $52
Head down to Nicaragua from Fort Lauderdale on various dates in February on Spirit Airlines for just $52! One of the best things to do in Nicaragua is to travel to Ometepe Island. The island, which is in the middle of Lake Cocibolca, has twin volcanoes.
You can also check out some of the country’s cities, like Leon and Granada.
7. Fort Lauderdale to Aruba – $57
Here’s another one from Fort Lauderdale. Take a trip down to Aruba starting at $57, with plenty of dates in January on Spirit. Aruba, a territory of the Netherlands, is full of beaches for a relaxing vacation. Oranjestad has interesting Dutch colonial architecture as well.
8. Fort Lauderdale to Bogota, Colombia – $62
It should be clear by now that Spirit flights from Fort Lauderdale simply offer the best deals if you’re not after frills. There are $62 flights to Bogota, Colombia’s capital, on a few dates in February.
Bogota is a fine place to start a Colombia, or larger South American trip. Make sure you climb or take the cable car up to Montserrate, which has panoramic views of the city. The La Candelaria neighborhood also has some of the city’s biggest attractions, like Plaza de Bolivar and Museo Botero.
9. Fort Lauderdale to Guayaquil, Ecuador – $64
You can get the lowest prices from Fort Lauderdale to Guayaquil, the largest city in Ecuador, on January 20th and 21st. While those flights are $64, there are plenty of other $66 dates throughout the winter.
Guayaquil has a bit of a reputation for being dangerous, but you can catch a quick flight from Guayaquil to the Galapagos Islands for incredible wildlife viewing opportunities.
Ecuador is a beautiful country, with other key destinations like Otavalo, Quito, Cuenca, Cotopaxi National Park, and Baños, where I got stuck at the beginning of the COVID-19 lockdown.
10. Fort Lauderdale to San Jose, Costa Rica $66
Another one of the best winter international flight deals from Fort Lauderdale is to San Jose, Costa Rica. Four dates in February (17, 23, 25, 26) have $66 Spirit flights to the Costa Rican capital city.
You can stay near San Jose, in Cartago, and hike up the Irazu Volcano. The most popular volcanic destination in the country, though, is Arenal. For a longer trip, consider heading west to the Nicoyan peninsula.
11. San Antonio to Mexico City – $68
I’ve written extensively about Mexico City on this blog, and it’s one of the premier cities in the world, in my opinion. Thankfully, there are incredibly cheap flights down to CDMX from San Antonio on Volaris. They start at $68, but there are plenty of dates under $80 in January and February.
Winter is an excellent time to visit Mexico City, as there’s usually no rain. Then, as a day trip, you can head to the monarch butterfly sanctuaries in the state of Mexico or in Michoacan. Mexico City itself has years’ worth of things to do.
12. Fort Lauderdale to Lima – $87
Just like that, we’re back to Fort Lauderdale with an incredible deal on Spirit Airlines to Lima on February 3 and 4. Lima is the capital of Peru, renowned for its culinary scene.
Peru is obviously known for Machu Picchu, which is much closer to the city of Cusco, down south. There are also natural wonders worth visiting in Peru, like Huascaran National Park and Colca Canyon.
Best Winter International Flight Deals: 13. New York City to London – $109
Fly directly from New York City (JFK) to London (LGW) for only $109 on Norse Atlantic Airways on various dates in January, as well as on March 17. This is an absurd price for a European flight, and you could always catch a cheap flight from London to somewhere on the mainland afterward.
Best Winter International Flight Deals: 14. New York City to Rome $149
This is another one of the best winter international flight deals you have to act fast on. On January 9, 10, or 11, you can fly to Rome for $149 on Norse Atlantic from JFK. I’ve been to Rome during the winter, and the temperatures are usually quite moderate.

Best Winter International Flight Deals: 15. Los Angeles to Tokyo $259
Last, but certainly not least, fly to Japan from Los Angeles for $259 on ZIPAIR Tokyo on various dates in January, February, and March. This is likely the best one-way flight deal to Asia you’ll be able to find, and Japan is certainly having a moment right now, especially among American tourists.
Like London, Rome, and Mexico City, Tokyo is one of the most iconic cities in the world. It’s also surprisingly affordable, and you’ll have no problems eating well while you’re there.
A non-international option
While not an international destination, the flights on Frontier from Newark to San Juan, Puerto Rico, are too good not to share. There are currently four dates for $38 in January, along with a few in February. There’s also a $38 flight on March 1.
