About Me

Hi! I’m Liam and my goal is for you to be able to backpack on a budget with the help of my blog

During my sophomore year of college I started traveling heavily and never looked back. Since I didn’t have a big budget to work with, I tried to travel as much as and as cheaply as I could without compromising on quality.

I was able to book some very cheap and exciting trips. My first ever budget trip was to New Orleans, which was under $300. I took weekend trips to Asheville and the Smokies for $120. Soon after, I went to Zion, Bryce, Canyon, and Death Valley for under $150. I also went to Guadeloupe for under $300 roundtrip! All of these numbers reflect both flights and accommodations. Hey, at least I’m getting some use out my Econ degree…

The Blog

These experiences prompted the creation of Vacation Vulture. I figure there are many people out there who’d love to travel but are frustrated with how expensive it traditionally is.

I backpacked through Europe for a little over a month after I graduated and started my trip off with a $99 flight to Norway. In that timeframe, I managed to visit 10 countries. I owe it to the fact that I was flexible and only traveled with a single bag.

It’s certainly cliche, but the Europe trip hooked me on backpacking. Since going to Europe the first time, I’ve spent a couple of months in Southeast Asia, three months in South America and six months back in Italy.

On this blog, I’ll share deals, tips, and guides and anything else relevant about budget traveling with you. I hope you’ll be able to check some items off of your bucket list with my help!
